Superintendent III, Quality and Lab

About the role

Manage, coordinate, control and oversee the operation of all internal Quality & Lab personnel, equipment, and activities within the smelter. Ensure safe, effective preparation and equipment inspections to support production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate a world‑class quality and laboratory function and supervise the Quality Lab team to complete analysis tasks per smelter regulations.
• Drive problem solving, continuous improvement and act as the laboratory subject‑matter expert.
• Build relationships across teams to enhance collaboration, innovation and monitor performance of direct reports.

Required profile

• BSc in Chemistry (Masters or PhD advantageous).
• Minimum 8 years lab operations experience and 5 years quality inspection in a copper smelting plant.
• At least 5 years in a managerial position, preferably building a functional team.
• Knowledge of DRC mining legislation related to sampling and smelter production schedules.

• Quality Management System implementation.
• Operation of laboratory and quality inspection equipment.
• Troubleshooting of operational errors and corrective actions.
• Quality control methods for lab and inspection processes.
• Understanding of smelter systems, methodology and equipment.
