Telecommunications Rigging and Microwave Specialist

About the role

The Telecommunications Rigging and Microwave Specialist provides expert technical leadership for the installation, operation, maintenance, and optimisation of microwave transmission infrastructure and related telecommunications assets supporting MONUSCO operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This role ensures reliable connectivity across mission sites where commercial services are unavailable.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, install and commission microwave transmission systems, antenna arrays, waveguides and RF feeder networks.
• Lead tower climbing and rigging operations, including safe lifting, mounting and securing of equipment.
• Conduct regular inspections of communication towers, antenna systems and power infrastructure to ensure safety and performance.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on satellite communications, radio networks and associated telecom equipment.
• Optimize system performance and troubleshoot outages to minimise downtime.
• Support infrastructure modernization projects and provide technical guidance to contractors and field teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in microwave and telecommunications infrastructure engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to lead rigging and tower‑climbing activities safely.
• Strong knowledge of RF feeder installation, waveguide routing and antenna system integration.
• Ability to work in remote field environments and coordinate with multi‑disciplinary teams.
