Excavator Operator

About the role

Mutanda Mining is seeking experienced Excavator Operators to join its open‑pit mining team in Kolwezi, DRC. Reporting to the Mining Production Superintendent, you will operate hydraulic excavators safely and efficiently to load haul trucks and support continuous ore supply to the processing plant.

Key responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic excavators (e.g., CAT 6030, CAT 6015) to load ore or waste onto haul trucks according to production plans and dispatch instructions.
• Maintain continuous, efficient loading cycles and ensure proper material separation between ore and waste.
• Perform bench shaping, ground preparation, and safe excavation practices while monitoring bench stability.
• Coordinate with haul‑truck operators, use two‑way radio communication, and follow fleet‑management system directives.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections, report and address any fuel, oil, or hydraulic leaks immediately.
• Ensure compliance with mining safety procedures, hazard identification, and ground control standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid national driver’s licence (where required).
• At least three (3) years of proven experience operating hydraulic excavators in open‑pit mining or large‑scale earthmoving.
• Experience with CAT 6030 or CAT 6015 excavators is highly desirable.
• Certification or competency assessment in heavy‑equipment operation.
