General Manager Asset Protection

About the role

The General Manager Asset Protection will report directly to the Managing Director and provide strategic leadership for all asset protection and security operations across Kamoto Copper Company’s operational territory. The role focuses on risk mitigation in the challenging environment of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, integrating security measures with business priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive Asset Protection Strategy aligned with the company’s overall business plan.
• Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and scenario planning to identify and mitigate emerging threats.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing asset protection team, ensuring succession planning and talent development.
• Oversee response to major security incidents, coordinate investigations, and implement preventative measures.
• Act as primary liaison with government agencies, local law enforcement, and community stakeholders to build trust and prevent conflicts.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, legal requirements, and international security and human‑rights standards.
• Provide regular reporting on security performance, incident trends, and mitigation plans to executive management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading security or asset protection functions in a complex, high‑risk environment.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, especially with government and community partners.
• Deep understanding of international security standards and human‑rights compliance.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to integrate security into overall business strategy.
