PSEA Officer (Temporary) – Ebola Response, Bunia

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a PSEA Officer to support the implementation of the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) component of the Ebola response plan in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in Bunia, the officer will travel across Ituri, North Kivu and South Kivu, working closely with government, civil‑society and UNICEF teams to ensure safe, accountable services for children and vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to PSEA focal points, government counterparts and civil‑society partners.
• Strengthen accountability systems through innovative approaches and risk‑mitigation activities.
• Coordinate with Child Protection and Social and Behaviour Change teams for victim assistance and community engagement.
• Represent UNICEF in PSEA coordination mechanisms in the field.
• Adapt interventions to the dual context of the Ebola epidemic and ongoing conflict.
• Contribute to the integration and sustainability of PSEA efforts in post‑outbreak recovery programmes.

Required profile

• Experience working in humanitarian or health emergencies, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to build capacity and provide technical guidance on PSEA matters.
• Strong coordination and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel frequently across insecure areas.

Required skills

• Knowledge of PSEA policies, guidelines and best practices.
• Understanding of child protection principles and Ebola response frameworks.
• Ability to develop and deliver training and risk‑mitigation tools.
